THE FOUNDATION REGGIO CHILDREN - CENTRO LORIS MALAGUZZI IS BORN IN REGGIO EMILIA
Our invitation is for you to climb up into a hot-air balloon and look down, where there are children, adults, things and events; and also the signs, marks and symbols which are there as indicators of information and messages only slightly traced.
It is an ideal and privileged viewpoint that makes it possible to focus on individual images and then put them together and make them move, in directions each one of us can imagine for ourselves. On September 29, 2011 the no profit Foundation Reggio Children - Centro Loris Malaguzzi is officially born. The Foundation has the aim to promote quality education in Reggio Emilia and in the world and its key words are: research, internationality, solidarity and educational quality.

On September 29, 2011 the no profit Foundation Reggio Children - Centro Loris Malaguzzi is officially born. The Foundation has the aim to promote quality education in Reggio Emilia and in the world and its key words are: research, internationality, solidarity and educational quality.
It is a foundation of participation, that has origin from the transformation of the International Association Friends of Reggio Children. In this way an added value and strength is given to the participation of people, citizens – from Reggio Emilia and from other countries – and to the promotion and development of the participation of volounteers that has characterized the Association over the years.
The other promoting founders are:
the Municipality of Reggio Emilia (rightful participant),
Narea (North America Reggio Emilia Alliance), Reggio Emilia Institutet (Svezia) and Red Solare Argentina, members of the Reggio Children International Network
Effe 2005, Holding Feltrinelli, with which Reggio Children, for a long time, has been collaborating.
Also the shareholders of Reggio Children srl, which will confer their shares, will become promoting or participating members, according to the entity of the shares. Reggio Children srl members recognize, in this way, in the Foundation, the evolution of the project with with the company was born in 1994 as “International Centre for the Defence and Promotion of rights and potentials of all children”.
Companies or institutions can participate in the Foundation, through a financial commitment or through services, but also funding specific projects. Citizens, from Italy or from other countries, can donate small contributions or other forms of support.
Part of the funds of the Foundation will give support to the Reggio Emilia educational experience, recognized as the origin of the project, so that it can continue to keep the quality and respond to the request of exchanges and collaborations coming from al lover the world. Reggio is the city with the highest 0-6 schooling rate of Italy and it wants to confirm this commitment even in difficult times. And the experience of local quality becomes a flywheel to bring forward the idea and value of research together in a vision of Exchange with other International contexts.
The Board of Directors will be composed of 6 members and will nominate the President. Other organs are the Scientific Committee, the Founders Assembly and the Participants Assembly.
In this way, the educational system of Reggio Emilia will be made by the Istituzione Scuola e Nidi d'Infanzia of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia; by the Foundation Reggio Children - Centro Loris Malaguzzi and by Reggio Children srl, which will have in charge commercial activities connected with Reggio Emilia Approach and that will integrate the competences of Reggio nel Mondo.
The dream of Loris Malaguzzi becomes a bigger and unique dream: in Reggio we will have an International Foundation for the research and promotion of education: a Foundation that aspires to become a reference point of excellence in this field.
The Foundation becomes a further develpment of the Reggio Emilia Approach: not only an educational project for children 0-6, but a possible approach for the whole city and for the cities in the worlds for the wellbeing and growth of communities.
Now Reggio Emilia tries to imagin a future, that sees in the International Centre Loris Malaguzzi not only a Centre for professional development, but a Research Centre recognized at International level in the heart of the city that has chosen education (all kind, not only school) as its priority.
